    Hello:
I just installed an Adaptec 2906 SCSI Card in this XP (2002 version) computer but Microtek E3 Plus Scanner doesn't work.
I installed 2906 driver from disk that came with it. New hardware wizard tells me it is working.Device Manager recognizes it as Adaptec AIC-7850 PCI SCSI Controller.
I downloaded V2.60 software for scanner from Microtek website. to C: \ 2.60 application. (it is a zip file) unsure it opened right. Scanner Test tells me scanner Not connected, but i checked cable 3 times, re-booted> Scanner must be on before computer boots up. tried that 3 times
    Help

Arie; you said "disk 1" and search for setup.exe there.
Iopened Disk 1, found Setup, it started Microtek Scan Wizard,it stopped 3/4 of the way through ans i get a message "error extracting support files' access is denied.
i closed that and another dialog box shows up "do you want to completely remove the selected appplication and all of its components? "

On Microtek page, ther was achoice of EPP or SCSI, i chose SCSO.During installation it asked again SCSI or EPP. This is somewhat confusing, as Scanner is connected to a Parallel port/socket..
They do not say if Scanner shoud be connected or not during installation??!!

I suggest you contact them for support.

I'm not running XP, and I have never had any SCSI hardware so...

    MIR11,
Just wondering why the scanner is hooked up to the Parallel port and not the SCSI Card. All the scanners I had that were SCSI ran of the SCSI card.

    To Russ:
I noticed your post after i read Arie's reply and after i made other post
It is connected to the new Adeptec SCSI card i just installed,i used the word Parallel to distinguish from USB or Serial, etc.
My wife got a new scanner that has USB, it is "plug and Play" no fuss or nonsense like i am having.

In which case you need the EPP software, NOT the SCSI and you don't need an SCSI card either.

The installer is trying to find that file. If D:\ is your CD/DVD drive, it is looking for a CD with that file on it. If it is a download and not on CD you will need to direct it to where the downloaded files are.

If it on your HDD you can use the search function (Start -> Search -> Files and Folders).
