    Hello vitalForce,
Could you be more specific about what "diskclean" is - was it using a 3rd party cleaner or XP's cleanup tool?

Have you tried a System Restore just prior to "a fewdays ago" ?

    Hi vitalForce,

I was hoping it was a 3rd party tool - they usually have an option to backup what they clean.

And it also may be coincidence, may not be the problem unless your friend went one step further in the Disk Cleanup dialog and removed some Windows Components.

Forgot to ask, by chance do you use ZA Pro as a Firewall? If not, what firewall do you use? The firewall may be a culprit as well. To test that - disable the 3rd party firewall and enable XP's.

Another test - if you're using IE, do you have another Browser installed, and if so, have you tried with another browser like Firefox?

Could be, but I doubt it, it would cause problems with the display, can't think how it would affect downloading.

You can go thru these actions with IE that I mention in this thread:
http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=68409 looking at the Add-ons, sfc and a IE repair.

If you answer Steve's question that I should have asked  - thanks Steve :) maybe we'll know more.
