No response out of Screen Saver

I have had this computer for over a year and it has worked find. In the last 2 months, when i start to use it in the morning i move the mouse and the screen (2 screens) come alive with the wallpaper, but NO icons, NO task Bar, no keys work (windows key, Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Alt-Tab). When I reboot the system and check the event logs there is no errors, warnings, or any indication of a problem. I have removed the side cover of my computer and have a fan blowing directly on the cpu.
Does anyone have a suggestion or know of a windows problem.
