    I have several questions.

    1. I have a small secondary drive that I would like to use as a place to store files, pictures etc. Does it need an operating system installed?

    2. Before I convert the secondary drive to save the important stuff, I have a copy of XP PRO 64bit that I would like to install to see how it goes (install drivers, check conflicts etc) as I might move to XP Pro 64bit.

How do I do that? Stick in the cd, run it and specify the drive?

I currently have the disk as a slave an in the process of formating it.

    Thanks

As long as you have a 64bit cpu/mobo - selecting the new drive will do the trick.

    clarification

You don't need an OS on another drive (hard drive or flash drive) to store files.
