    Hi,

I put a friends computer into safe mode to do a scan ( smitfraudfix)
which was clean. When I rebooted into normal mode all the desktop icons are now small. I checked her settings under display appearance effects and it shows Large Icon as choice. Is there somewhere else I can look? Or is there a
    'fix' for this?

She has a Dell laptop XP SP2 home edition.

Try choosing any other size font (other than large). Click Apply. Rechoose your preferred font size & again Apply.

Bring up the Display Properties in the Control Panel. Click on the "Appearance" tab. Bottom right hand corner is "Advanced ". There is a drop down menu under "item" to the left. Choose "icons" and the size box should activate. Make the adjustments you prefer, click okay, then apply in the remaining dialog.

Johanna, worked like a charm. Thanks. Can you tell me how to make her desktop items display their full name.

Eg the shortcut to spywareblaster is shown on mine as Spywareblaster.
On her system the desktop icon name is Spywarebla....

Either alter the Horizontal icon spacing following the same route Johanna posted - it's in the dropdown list (may need to alter the Vertical icon spacing too) or change the icon font size, at the bottom of the Icon Size drop down.

With the spacing/font size I use I have renamed SpywareBlaster to Spyware Blaster and the title sits on two lines.

Okay. I'm going to play around with the setting, thanks.
