    Hi guys,

I get random BSOD's 2-5 times a day am so tired of it :( i've tried everything i can think of but apparently that's not enough. I've done a debug with WINdbg and all bsod's point to the same error

    Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe

    Things i've tried.
    - Upgrade/downgraded Bios
    - Memory scan with memtest86 (No errors)
    - Prime95 for 3h (No error/problems OC'd or not)
    - Reinstalled Vista x64 (Same BSOD's)
    - Reinstalled Vista without Retail drivers from Manufacturer and no application added what so ever clean install (Same BSOD's)
    - Spent 4 days searching for a solution

belove is the debug results please help me.

Hello Blackkatt and welcome to the Board :)

First, you should run it thru our tool: http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33471

There are only two people that do debugging analysis here who occasionally visit that have the depth of knowledge necessary - and I'm not one of them ;)

ntkrnlmp.exe is present on all Windows OS's and if a problem, points to memory as the probable culprit.

My suggestion is to run memory analysis tools in the meantime and if you have two or more DIMM slots, to play with the sticks, swithching them - using only one.

    Two memory testing tools:
    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/memtest.html

And Vista has a built memory testing tool as well, enter memory into the start button search area.

    Just my suggestions.

Yes, test the memory. These seems to be the modules:
    http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=7754B749A5CA7304
They are listed as compatible with your m/b, just check that these are the correct model.
If you happen to have 2 X 2Gb modules, they are not listed as compatible.
Read in the motherboard manual if there are any specific requirements for running the RAM configuration you have.

The CPU model you have is listed as compatible at Gigabyte?

Go into the BIOS settings at startup. Check the voltage readouts are close and the temperatures at cold start and after a BSOD.

The files referenced are Windows system files. The drivers involved I expect would be the chipset drivers. Look for INF updates at the Intel website.

You seem to have tried most of the things possible to try. If it was still under warranty I would start looking at returning it, otherwise I would look at going to 32 bit Windows or running the CPU/RAM in an underclocked mode and see if it became stable then.

    Matt

Thank you very much both of you!
Okay first of. My CPU is listed as compatible with my Gigabyte board. As for my memory i've got 1GB sticks 4 of them so am safe there then. I've run memtest86 but you reference me to try other memtest tools right? Matt what do you mean with underclocked? that i test running hardware under default settings? am doing this with my RAM they are suppose to run at 1066Mhz but thats not possible i get strange errors from start, like Black screens that say, "some files are missing, use the Vista retail something like that i cant remember. But as soon i run the RAM under 1066Mhz am fine and can boot in to windows.

Now as for the motherboard i was really lucky. The post office manage to fritters away my first order. So the company made a complaint and send me a new board but forgot to register the "order" so i ended up not paying for the motherboard, So i really don't wanna return it if u catch my drift ;)

This thing u say Matt, about INF Intel chipset drivers strike me as well it was the first thing i come of think of. But i didn't find a good way to remove the drivers. I did a system restore but i'm not sure all of it was restored and i keep getting this same error.
Yesterday i installed some update i was recommended and another BSOD has arrived. I'm gonna post it as soon i fixed some symbol time error in WINdbg you are using the wrong symbols... witch i could use some help with aswell ;)

    FYI .....
I would experiment with your memory placing - I assume they are two sets of matching pairs (each pair bought as a 'kit'). Each one of the pair should be in the appropriate dual channel slots - check. Remove one pair - try the other pair in each pair of slots. Repeat for the other pair of modules.

Have you checked to see if your hardware is on the Vista compatibility list?

    FYI - For Your Information

A memory problem cannot be ruled out - my comments based on other threads we have dealt with and as a followup to Charles' post above.
Not specifically - memory will only run at a speed that the mobo supports.

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.

    Hi,
The dumps appear to suggest that the data in the RAM (memory) is badly corrupted. Although the file referenced has changed, it is still a Windows system file, that's why we are suggesting to test the memory first.

As suggested, test with two modules at a time. Read in the motherboard manual about how the modules need to be installed. Two matching modules will need to be placed in specific slots. Each "kit" of modules is matching, they won't match modules from the other kit. The slots will be numbered and each matching pair will need to be placed in a specific set of slots. It will probably also say that if you use only two modules they will need to be placed in a specific arrangement. You can clean the connectors of the modules with a soft pencil eraser.

As I suggested, run a check that those modules are the same model as the ones I linked to. Your motherboard only takes non-ECC and unbuffered memory.

The RAM should be automatically set by the BIOS system. It does not seem to able to run at standard/normal settings. If you have any changes in the BIOS settings, reset to defaults.

The dumps just seem to say that there is a basic problem with the hardware and specifically with the RAM/memory, but that may just be the end result. I wouldn't expect that more dumps will tell us much more (unless it starts relating to non-Windows files/drivers).

    So...
    Test (and check) the RAM.

You have built the system yourself (correct?). Were there any stages during the build that did not seem quite right? There are usually troubleshooting lists or building checklists in the m/b manual.

There are one or two things that sound related to the file system or drive setup. Consider reformatting, but also removing the partitions. I would use the drive setup utilities from the HDD manufacturer.

When you install Windows, first install the drivers from the drivers CD...they are Vista 64 bit drivers on the CD, right? Otherwise use Vista 64 drivers from Gigabyte and if they are not supplied, you will need to go to the hardware manufacturer, like Intel, for the chipset (INF) drivers. Install the chipset drivers, then the graphics card drivers, then audio and other drivers. Get the drivers from the hardware manufacturer's website, not say, through Windows Updates or those "driver update" software offered at some websites. If the basic drivers are not correct, any updates using software will most likely be incorrect as well.

    Thank you very much mattnan.

I will sure check the memory with those applications recommended. I have reinstalled/formated many times. As for the drivers i've done what you suggests. The only thing that went wrong when i build the PC was that my 4GB looks all the same so i mixed them up hehe :p but i've been changing them back and fort with the same results. Today i removed a HDD stripe i had do i belived that it was causeing the fastfat.SYS BSOD problem. And i havent had that BSOD seens. I just got a BSOD typing this not the same as the BSOD before but as u say its best to check the RAM first.

I will test the RAM and get back to you.

PS: The link for the RAM is correct i have those memorys.

RAM test done, New BSOD before starting RAM test.

Okay so i'm done testing the RAM.
I tested both Vista's own memory tester and the other one you recommended. First i tested one set of RAM, then the other set. Then i put one from the first set to second set.

I will simplify, to be sure you understand me tho my mother tong isn't English :)

    Note:
I will call first set of RAM set "AA" second set of RAM set "BB "
Test 1. Set "AA" - tested with Vista's Memory Diagnostics Tool and memtest
Test 2. Set "BB" - tested with Vista's Memory Diagnostics Tool and memtest
Test 3. Set "AB" - tested with Vista's Memory Diagnostics Tool and memtest
Test 3. Set "BA" - tested with Vista's Memory Diagnostics Tool and memtest

Result: No errors, at all!

all ended up with no errors. So here i'am totally lost again. What would you guys recommend to be my next move?

Got this BSOD before i started testing the RAM.

Refer back to my post #5 .....
We are suggesting that you run the computer in each of the test setups you note, not just test each setup with memory testers and see if the BSOD's disappear with a particular arrangement.
Then run with just a single stick in one slot - swap out the sticks and slots, but only use one stick at a time.

    Hmm okay PeteC,
One say test the RAM with these apps and you say something els ;)
anyway they are tested. And now i will try it your way
Let me just see if i get it hehe

Run All 4 sticks, try... if it fails try moving one stick from ex A too B and B too A if this fails (done this many times), use only one stick for sometime then change it until i've tried all of them. Is this correctly understood?

I agree with what PeteC said. You should rotate your RAM modules. This can help rule out bad modules and failed slots.

You've already run Memtest86+? How long did you run it for?

Computer seems stable, let's hope it stays that way.

I haven't had any BSOD sens last night after switching the RAM placements. Let's hope it stays that way.
