Save As giving only BMP option

Hiya all

When i am at certain sites and wanting to save the picture in IE5.5, i c that i only get the option to save as in Bitmap format!!

How can i get around this so that the default is jpg...

I have tried all the pictures and they are all prompting me to save in BMP format!!

please help..

zombrax--I seem to remember reading somewhere that a good clean out of Temp and Temporary Internet Files (cache) solves the problem! (There is a MSKB article on this, but I was too lazy to look it up.) Since you should do this from time to time anyway, it cannot hurt. Suggest you do right after a boot-up.
(I assume you mean that the line "Save as type" in the Save window offers no choices except .bmp. I do not think you can set the default at .jpg. Usually the default for any individual image is whatever file type the image you want to save is. You make the change at the "Save as type" line.))

thanx for the reply.. i sorted the problem out Reget uninstall.. apparently, the crack on it didnt work and somehow it ******* up something or rather..

so i uninstalled, rebooted and viola its back to normal.

umm that worked once and its back to the grrr.. bmp only format.. how annoying is this..
howeva i c that in the M$ writeup that it only affects 5x??

so let me try instlaling 6 and hopefully nothing else will **** out on this machine... do ya have any idea how hard its to maintain an m$ box??!!
