Does anyone know how to get the little green squares indicating it is checking for updates to work again? For some reason it doesn't appear to be working any more, even thoe a screen does pops up indicating there is no available updates for my comuter after a short wait. (Win XP, SP2).

Generally, updates only come out on the second Tuesday of the month. (Nov 13th will be the next day)

have you maybe installed all the current ones?

    maybe this progress bar

Is it possible this problem, "no progess bar @ windows update" is do to a virus or spyware? Could someone perhaps tell me how to get one of these "hijack this log" to have someone check it out to see if the problem might be in there for me??

    Steve:
Already did that. Know anything about something called "Dial-a-fix http://wiki.djlizard" ? Hesitate to try if you got any other ideas.
    Thanks Don

FWIW - on occasions the green progress bar is absent on my box too - a refresh generally fixes it.

no progress bar at windows update

anybody got anyother suggestions on how to to get the green scaning bars back? im about ready to giveup, and just live with the problem. im guessing if any downloads become available i'll be able to get them, as when i run a check for updates, a popup stip appears after about a 90 sec., wait saying no priority up dates available.
    thaks all

That confirms that the scan was successful. I would not be too concerned about the green bar.

As I posted I rarely see it, a refresh may bring it back, but then I rarely scan for updates relying on Auto Updates set to Notify and on various newsletters.

    Thanks Pete.
Appreciate the input. I'll use your suggestion and quit worring about it. Mine are set for auto updates, and is noted so on the right top side of the update page.
