I put this in this forum because it does involve security. If it should be somewhere just move it.
I just Renewed-Cross Upgraded from AVG Anti-Virus Pro 1 PC to AVG Internet Security Home Edition for up to 3 PCs. I needed to do that because the kids are getting more and more involved on the Internet. And Nancys' PC does not have that much protection anyway.

Full version Backup CD is also coming.

Now before I get in to deep here I THINK this is what I need to do.

    1-Wait for the CD.
2-Make sure that nothing is set to go online.
3-Unistall the old and do all cleaning possible to get rid of the old. And I would also like to get it off of the C: drive and onto the D: where there is a lot more room.
4-Use something such as PowerDesk to examine the HD an besure the old is gone.
5-Use something such as RegSeeker to examine the Registry.
I add that because I have found it AMAZING what is often left over. Especially if the software has been overtop installed or upgraded. ( Mine has I believe )
6- Then go with the new install.
7 PRAY that all went well.
    ( alias.
BB did not mess up )
I may also have to make plans for someone to here with me so that I can concentrate better.

    Gotta go help Nancy.

    Hi BB

Would not disagree with your plan of campaign, although it may be a little OTT :) I would disconnect physically from the Internet.

Upgrading AVG to AVG should not require such a thorough cleaning process, but it won't do any harm of course and if it gives you peace of mind - all the better.

No reason why you should not install from a download - the backup CD should be the same and may take some time to arrive.

    BTW - Manual here ....

    Good Morning Pete

If i were just upgrading I would agree with you 100%. But I have several things to consider BEFORE I get in more trouble. ( AGAIN lol .)
#1 is that my C: drive has VERY little room on it. And is a bit slow at times now. So I felt that this may not give the new install ( especially on-line ) room enough to do the job properly and wind up in worse trouble.
#2 Our Internet connections have been VERY troublesome lately. I have been getting dropped off too many times to gamble. If it were just one PC then I would question the Unit itself. But it is both PCs doing it. And I have also seen the TV flicker at about the same time.A MAJOR utility pole in the area was hit lately. And I worked for a Utility Company ( both creation and distribution ends ) so I know what that than can do to things,
#3 Yes it may be a bit more time comsumming. But time is not something that I have to worry about. However planning that time may be.
So overall I figured that I would ask for help and/or ideas.
And I got what I aksed for. And THANK YOU for it. Now the rest is entirley up to you-know-who.

Coffee cup is empty. And Nancy may be up
    See ya later.

    Hi BillyBob :)

Just wanted to throw in 2 cents.

I've never felt comfortable with the idea of having the main antivirus package installed on a partition other than where the operating system resides. Were it mine, I would find other less important things to move. Wish I could say where my rational behind that thinking comes from, but I'm coming up blank right now.

I also agree with Pete in regards to being a bit OTT, for AVG anyway. It's not Symantec, Trend or McAfee, and doesn't bury it's roots so deep, which means it's uninstallers are much more effective in cleaning up. However, I also agree with his other point ........ if it gives you peace of mind - all the better. ;)

Thank you for tossing in your 2 cents. Some of it looks like it may be worth 10cents.
But over all I got what I asked for and sure will take some very good points into consideration when the time comes.
But right now I can't get into too much heavy duty stuff until we can Nancy fixed up better. She is my MUMERO UNO priority.

    Gotto go help her
    Goodnight
