    Any ideas?

Every time I finish with my PC.......either log off / restart or shut down, i get a pop up window
which shows a progress bar with the detail....ending explorer, with an option button...'End now'
After the progress bar is complete, it pops up again and the progress bar starts again, this time
with two bottons....'End now' or 'cancel'

Text within the window explains that using the 'End Now' button may cause recent data not to be
saved, but this is the only way to get the PC to shut down.

Seems like the PC is having trouble ending Windows explorer when closing down the PC.

Sounds like Windows Explorer is moving data across the network at logoff or shutdown time. Could be LAN or internet unless it is a stand-alone system in which case it pretty much would have to be internet.

Does the same thing happen if you try to close explorer before starting the logoff/shutdown?

Anything in your event logs at logoff/shutdown time relating to this issue?

Probably an excellent idea to do a complete AV scan using recent def files and to run something like Ad-aware to check for and remove spyware.

This is a new installation of Win2K & is on a LAN
Using task manager I can close explorer without any probs.
It is only if i use the shutdown / log off or re-start through START that i get this problem. Tried a repair with the WIn2k disc but problem is still there.
