[modem "not functional" error]

    I have windows xp Home edition

    Lucent win modem

    I have dialup and I can't get my modem to work , says it found modem
    and installed sussefully and when I click on modem it says not functional.

    Is this a new modem or an existing one which has stopped working?

    Either way round uninstall through Device Manager and physically remove the modem from the computer, clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser and refit into another PCI slot if avavailable.

    Load the drivers for the modem - report back :)

    I am not clear as to whether installing a new modem has resolved the problem or you have a problem with the new modem?

    Problem was with old one put new one in running great now. The computer set for one year well I was in FL.
