MS Office 2002 contained a program called MS Photo Editor.

MS Office 2003 (and 2007) removes MS Photo Editor if present and installs MS Office Picture Manager instead.

This creates confusion in my office where there are PC’s with both versions of Office.

Microsoft explains how to install the Office 2002 Photo Editor on PC’s with Office 2003 or 2007 at
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817095

Is there any way to install MS Office 2003 Picture Manager on PC’s that only have MS Office 2002? I haven’t found a way to do this and it would be most convenient (and least confusing) to have both programs on all machines.

    Thanks for any response.

IMHO it is extremely unlikely that you could install an Office 2003 app in Office 2002 as the coding is likely to be different. The other way round is possible according to the KB. Most programs tend to be backward compatible, but can never be forward compatible because the format of the next version is not known at that time.

Well, you could use the cd and do a custom install...deselect (red X) everything except Photo Manager.

Thanks Pete and Tony for your responses.

Do you think installing Picture Manager (only) onto Office 2002 would be likely to damage anything in 2002?

No way of knowing bar giving it a try :) At worst you will have to make a repair of Office - at best it works.

My guess is that it won't hurt anything. You'll kikely end up with bother versions of office installed, except the latter will be only the photo app you want.
