IE7 defaults to MSN as home page. I can go through the motions of changing it in Internet Options with no error messages, but it still defaults to MSN. I notice there exist none of the policy keys in the registry, mentioned in Kelly's Korner "lock or unlock home page." I don't know if I should try to add them, or if that is the issue.

I've seen this a couple of times...I search the registry for msn.com and manually replace it....From then on, I can do it the regular way.

Thanks for the input, Steve. I did that already... no help. Plus, I have done virus and trojan scans, and cleaned out spyware and tracking cookies, etc.

Some anti-malware programs such as SpyBot S&D and SpywareBlaster have options to lock the homepage for your protection. If you use any of these or similar programs check to see if this option is enabled. Disable it, change your homepage then re-enable the protection.

Thanks Whiskeyman. Not using either SpyBot S&D and SpywareBlaster.

I see another post with the same problem, that has gone unresolved, it appears...

Well, it isn't an earth shattering problem. I can live with it. It is just frustrating not to be able to change the home page.

Are you using Norton as an anti-virus? It will lock your homepage also. This may be a feature of some other anti-virus programs as well.

Well, safe mode didn't work, and I use McAfee for anti virus. Thanks for the suggestions.
