Browse\Open Button on WMP doesn't work

Since recently, the browse\open button on Windows Media Player 6.4 and 8.0 on my windows xp professional machine doesn't work. Whenever I click that button to search for a file, the play stops responding. The same happens on VCD cutter and Panasonic Mpeg encorder too. I do not know where it's due to other softwares I installed recently. I uninstalled those softwares and checked, yet the problem exists. The same issue was there on Adobe premiere too, but I reinstalled adope and the issue was no longer there. But it didn't work for VCD cutter or panasonic encorder. I did update all the critical patches for windows xp recently too.

Please Help.

If this just started recently? What about using one of your restore points to a time prior to this happening?
