page not found in IE and Firefox

    Laptop can ping URL and IP address so I know it's not a DNS problem. IE7 fails to show any page, so I figured the easiest thing would be to remove and install Firefox.....

    Exactly the same problem, any ideas much welcome.

    Winsocks

    Have you tried resetting Winsocks? IP?

    Winsock reset was the first thing I tried.

    Carried out a system restore to before the problem arose and this seemed to do the trick. So I'm none the wiser about the cause, but thanks for suggestions
