Dell Flat Panel Monitor Black

    Hi,
    I have a Dell Flat Panel 17 inch monitor that is not working and Dell said it is out of warranty. I was wondering if there is anything that I could check out on it before I have to throw it away and buy a new monitor.

    The computer shop around here said they do not fix monitors.

    When I turn the computer on, the monitor is black, but if I hold in the power button for a second, I can see the windows desktop, but then it disappears after 1 second and returns to the black screen.

    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Have you tried it on another computer?

    I'd check a bit more (for another shop) that might repair monitors.

    Yes, I brought the monitor home and tried it on my computer and it did the same thing. Still black.

    I will look around for someone that might be able to fix it but not sure if it is worth it or not.
