It used to be in IE6 you just dragged the url to the folder you wanted.

Now, in IE7 they have an Add Favorites button but no matter what I try the url doesn't show up in the listing of the folder I've highlighted.

    What am I missing?

It should work like you've described. It'll be on the bottom of the list in the folder "you" specified.

Or click on Add to Favourites (Alt + Z)

In the menu which appears click on Add to Favourites (Alt + C)

In the dialogue box select the folder and click Add.

    Pete,

My gawd, yes it works that way but how is that better than just drag and dropping the link to where you want it?

And if you want to rename the new Favorites you have to re-open the drop down tree it a second time?

    What a @#$% abortion!

Not everyone out there is a natural 'drag 'n dropper' - some don't even know what it is, so MS always provide a menu driven method - long winded though it may be :)

    Dragging & Dropping still works.

You click just before the http, then you can drag & drop the URL.

You'll only need to have the favorites menu 'pinned'.

    Ari,

I'm not sure what "pinned" is but when I highlight the folder that I want to drop the url into, no matter where I click on the url it never grabs it to move. Worked great in IE6.

Click on the gold star at the left of the pane - hover tooltip - Favourites centre.

In the favourites pane which opens click on the green arrow top right - Tool tip - Pin the Favourites centre.

Click and drag the icon/favicon to the left of http in the Address Bar over a folder in the Favourites pane and release the mouse button.

Right click on any URL in a folder and select Sort by name to sort that folder alphabetically.
