I hope someone out there has had this problem and knows what's wrong. On my husband's computer, I've added all sorts of appointments to the calendar in MS Works v6 with all reminders set for 1 day. For some reason, the reminders don't pop up unless he opens up the calendar, which rather defeats the purpose, right?

I have Works 8 on my computer, and the reminders work just as they're supposed to. What's more, they worked when I only had Works 2002, as well.

We both have XP. I have the Home version, and he has the Professional version. What could possibly be the problem???

I can just see it now: Take out the trask - Pickup the dry cleaning:eek:
    (just kidding)

Is his Computer clock set to the correct date and time?

Have you been through all the options and settings?

Hey, you're right, Steve. I've got to get this fixed! Garbage is piling up all over the house, and I haven't a thing left to wear.

Yes, the computer clock is set right, and I've compared all the options in his program to mine, but I'm going to go over them again. Maybe I missed something.

Thanx for your help and for your honest concern with the daily tasks of our little household.

(glad you have a sense of humor)

Where these appointments imported from your machine by any chance?

What happens if you set the reminder for a shorter time period.

Or create a test appointment for an hour from now with a reminder 15 minutes before.

Good idea, Steve, I'll try that. And no, I didn't import the appointments from my machine.

Steve, a test appointment with a reminder of 15 minutes worked! Yay! Now, what does that mean???

What does it mean - Beats me:eek: or Maybe there is hope...

Couple things come to mind....Try a different reminder time...Something other then 1 day.

Could also click on the HELP button and see if there is a "detect and repair" option. If there is, you might need the original Works cd's to do the repair.

    Thanx

Thanks, Steve. I set a different test reminder for each time option, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1/2 day, etc, and they all worked except the 1 day. Don't know why and don't care much. We'll just avoid the 1 day one. Thanks for your suggestions and humor.

I am not familiar with this program, so I can only guess in how program manages / checks for scheduled reminders. Calendar would need to run a program routine to check for this activity. When you "power down" computer and do NOT manually load Calendar after computer is powered up, does Calendar display any / all (except 1 day) reminder events??
The short question, is a required auto-start process not starting.

    MS Works calendar working

Dennis and Steve, thank you both for your help. I set up test reminders for 15 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 1/2 day, 1 day, and 1 week, and they all worked. I have no idea why, and I don't care so long as it's working.
