I have a partition on my harddrive with C as the regular HD and D as the recovery windows area. I had some problems with my X-fi sound card. I tried to put in windows xp pro. Somehow it installed in my D drive partition instead over my windows XP home edition media center. It completely filled my D drive so I get an icon stating no room on D drive and that restore is turned off. I would like to uninstall or delete XP pro from my D drive partition. How do i do that?

If I'm understanding you correctly, the D partition only contains the unwanted XP Pro install. In that case, you can format the D partition which would erase everthing on the partition.

If the install didn't finish, then you can Format the partition. Otherwise, use the XP Pro disc - see below.

From C (the MCE installation) > right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Management.

Right click on the D Partition in the graphic area > Format.

If the Install did finish, not allowing Formatting (Format is greyed out), then use the XP Pro cd to format the partition and stop there.

And if the install did finish and created a dual boot menu, that'll have to be fixed afterwards.

    Ok.

Have you tried simply deleting the following Folders/files:

Windows • Program Files • Documents and Settings

    These are hidden OS files:
    Hiberfil.sys
    Pagefile.sys

    To see them:
My Computer > at the top: Tools > Folder Options > View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

I thought of just deleting everything except the "recovery" file folder like you say, can I just do that?

That's what I'm asking you to try to do.

The hibernation file and the page file are hidden and there may be others.
