    HI all!

I have a program on my system which i want to run at startup! (Simple Center media server). Vista always blocks it from running automatically at startup and i have to run manually. I trust the program! Is there any way i can make vista run the program without me having to start in manually every time? I'm running Vista ultimate.

    Many thanks

    Gary

You have to disable the UAC to allow it to start on boot. Run MSCONFIG.EXE and go to the load tab and disable UAC. :)

Try going to where you start the program manually in All Programs. Right-click on the listing and select Properties. Click the Open File Location button and find the executable that runs the program (the name and path of the file will be in the Properties box). Right-click on the file and select "Run as administrator ".

Further, you should be able to put a shortcut into the Startup folder. Put startup into Help and Support and go to "Run a program automatically when Windows starts ".

Thanks for the info! Seems to have done the trick. Is there any way to stop the security alert from popping up telling me the user account control is turned off?

    Many Thanks

Gary go in Control Panel/User Accounts and click on "Turn User accounts On or Off" and in the next screen, is that box checked for UAC? If so un check it.
