Hello;
I have an HP 3840 series (3845) Printer that works great except for the type (font) size..
This is 2 on this site, by comparison the printer is using maybe your 1 on here.
actually it is smaller than your #1
I have the manual for it and i also have been all over the properties that show up on my 'puter screen.
Any ideas??

I don't think, you can adjust font size through printer utility.
It prints whatever it sees.
I looked at your manual...
You have there "Paper/Quality" tab.
Make sure, that you have:
- Size is: Letter (if you have something different, it'll print in smaller, or larger font)
- Type is: Plain paper

Look at what you are trying to print. If you are using a non-standard font, it may be the reason.

The program you are trying to print from may be a factor. Printing the same text from Notepad, Wordpad or Word will be different. Notepad uses basic fonts and formatting, Word can use more complex types.

If the program has it, look in File -> Print Preview, you may be able to make adjustments there.

Printing out something like a webpage can have unexpected results. I select and copy the text I want to print, paste it into a Word document, then print it from there.

To Mattman:
I was printing these Posts about my burning cd and other problems. Believe me they come out smallertry printing the CD Formatting post from yesterday or try this.
To compare with Courier 10 in Outlook Express and know 8 is the smallest in Courier, The Title here is about 6 or 5 and the text would be about a 4.
Using a ruler this text is almost 3/16 of an inch " Do CD-RW need formatted? is 1/8 of an inch and the body of the message is 1/16 (maybe 3/32.) on Paper.
How do i paste to Notepad or other from here???

Highlight the text you want to print. Right-click on the highlighted section and select Copy.

Open the word processor program. If you don't have MS Word or OpenOffice.org Write use Wordpad. Wordpad is in Start -> All Programs -> Accessories.

Right-click on the blank page and select Paste.

Wordpad is better than Notepad because the Notepad File Menu does not give direct access to printer settings, whereas Wordpad does. For example, when printing Web docs for reference I select to print in grayscale to save ink. The copy is still quite readable but uses half the black ink.

Hi MIR11,
Were you able to copy and paste?

I copy/pasted some of the posts in this thread and it stretched out over 3 pages because of the double spacing format in Wordpad.

My advice, get OpenOffice
www.openoffice.org
This freeware office suite has all types of functions, including spreadsheets, databases, image editors, illustrating programs, etc. You will need the word processing program Writer. If you do not want to install the other functions, use a "custom installation" and disable them from "running on the computer ".

The Writer program is a "fully functioning" word processing program like Microsoft Office Word [consider getting Word if you like].

If the problem is that you cannot highlight, select and copy/paste the text, look for a Print icon on the webpage. Trying to print the webpage directly (File -> Print or clicking the Print button) will be the cause of the problem. Some webpages can be printed from the browser, a lot cannot, because they have complex "script" for building the webpage.

I consider having a full word processing program a "must-have ". If I do not have MS Word available on a computer, I install Writer (it's good value-for-money :D). Try it and see if it overcomes the problem.

Matt
PS Please give us a link to the Creative webpage, we may be able to reproduce the problem or give you some leads.

I chatted online with an HP Technician?... after much ado he blamed Internet Explore 7(seven)...Very interesting as i have I.E. 6 (SIX)

MATTMAN: NO I DIDN'T TRY COPY/PASTE, I AM USED TO PRINTING FROM WEBSITE.. MAYBE LATER TODAY...

This puter has Word, which i am not too familiar with.
Morningstar has a print tab which opens to a snapshot view/Printer friendly page; there i can change type /font size, but it really is not that much different.

Creative Labs address is http://us.creative.com (no www) scroll down a bit ,click on Sound Blaster picture, then knowledge base on left side, then look for no sound at all, or it used to work.. .open that.. but they all are small

Notepad is a simple program, I think you will have even less success with that.

Try Word. I find Word or Writer are the only word processors that can cope with some formatting on webpages. I find I only need to open the word processor, paste the text, then go to File -> Print (you can look at Print Preview).

I can find a "Solution ID # 1273, No Sound or Poor Sound" at Creative, at the bottom it has a Printer Friendly Version button (do you see a box/window pop up?).

If your efforts are still not working look up the printer model at HP
www.hp.com/support
There you will find troubleshooting information. Uninstall and reinstall the printer using their instructions if all else fails.

If you had any previous printers installed, they may be causing the faults. You will need to check in Add/Remove Programs, Start -> All Programs and the Printers folder for previous printers or their software.

My wife has a similar issue w/ small print. For some odd reason there's a second HP printer shown in Control Panel/ Printers & Faxes. I had to reset the default printer & all prints fine, but if she happens to select the other printer icon then print is too small.

The printer is USB , could not choose default on dropdown tab, but could choose on FAX,which i do not use>>>>>>>

The best solution so far,at least for Morningstar reports is their snapshot view copy/paste to Word or Wordpad, print in landscape form.
haven't tackled that Creative Labs page yet.

If you are using windows built in Accessability features then what you see on the screen is not the real font size used in documents. A Web page may be using size 10 font but Accessability may make it look like size 14 font, and the printer will print the size specified in the document's code. Test this by viewing a Web page, press the Print Screen button on the keyboard, open an image editor such as MS paint (start>programs>accessories>paint), edit menu, paste. Then print the "screenshot" image.

YOU SAID IN PART "A WEB PAGE MAY BE USING SIZE 10 FONT but Acccessibility may make it look like 14" "
Actually it is the other way around,it prints much smaller.
I just did it in Paint, that is NOT ACCEPTABLE as it prints MUCH LARGER( size 16-20 font) and enlarges width also. first sentence chopped off/ends at Acc
......takes two pages side by side to have whole message
AND WASTES GREEN AND BLUE INK.
If you read any of my posts in this thread, i print these for future reference>>>>>>

What is that at bottom of your post??
