I have recently attempted to reformat my computer, however, the windows set up disc failed to reformat my drives, or even launch, due to C:/Windows/System32/hal.dll missing.

So, I thought I'd try a sneaky fix, and copy the file from here:

    http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal

I have since restarted my computer, and now it won't launch into XP... Nor safe mode, or anything like that. Due to 'Load Needed DLLs for Kernel'... When I try to boot into my Windows XP CD, and reinstall windows to fix this missing file, it files, due to not being able to detect my Hard Drives.

I have two hard drives, RAID AFAIK, however, they are striped.

    Any ideas?

Maybe if someone could think of a way I could fix the 'undetectable hard drives', I could find a way to replace the hal.dll without having to resort to reformatting!

    Thanks.

Maybe if someone could find me a download link for the P4C800 RAID drivers, I might be able to reinstall it via the Windows Setup..

    Thanks.

    Hi,
It appears to be an Asus motherboard. At the global website
    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
find the downloads for your motherboard (Asus use Java applets and you cannot link to them). It is a P4 socket 478.

I expect they are SATA HDDs, if the drivers are listed as SATA RAID Controller drivers, fine. If they list SATA and RAID drivers separately, the drivers you probably need to install at the begining of the Win XP setup are the SATA Controller drivers.
