    Hello,

I have a copy of windows server 2003 standard. It currently runs on an old server and I am looking to sell it. My question is about product activation - do you need to reset product activation before selling it? By simply removing the software will that allow another person to activate it?

    thanks.

    Hi
I was told by one of Microsoft's supplier that as long as server software is only installed on a machine at any given time, it should be fine. I don't know what happens if you register the product and try to sell. Hope that helps

You should be aware that if this was OEM software originally supplied with the server, that you will breaking your license agreement with Microsoft if you sell it separately from the server:
If this is boxed product rather than the OS supplied with the server, then everything has to be transferred to the new owner. Media, Certificate of Authenticity - the lot.
