I haven't used thunderbird recently, but it was very easy to use... too bad that they quit. Hope thunderbird can be just as well as it was before.

    Ramona,

Thanks for keeping Thunderbird users posted on these developments. I have been using Thunderbird for several years now and have been very satisfied. I use it simply to send and receive e-mail as it installs - never have used any off the add ons or special features.

Will these developments affect users like me? Should I begin to look around at alternatives? I used OE previously and could move back to it if necessary but I don't really want to.

It's unfortunate but I don't see it as a big issue. T-bird will continue and if not, Mercury is developing a standalone e-mail client for Netscape 9. Not to worry. There are plenty of great e-mail clients out there.

This is a key story There is no indication that anything will stop.
Honestly, very few resources were dedicated to Thunderbird, and with this innovations were lacking. And, the Netscape Mercury project is going the same way, with very little being done till Nav.9 final release is out.
TB will be fine for years, in the present form. It will not self-destruct.

    Virginia,

I see you have already had reassurances that our Thunderbird Mail Client isn't doomed. I will continue to use Thunderbird, knowing that it will be developed if not by Mozilla, perhaps independently as SeaMonkey.

I always hesitate to post this type of news, as it does worry users. However, keep in mind that it is for information only... ;)

    Thanks Ramona and all,

I hadn't yet declared "...the sky is falling." So I plan to keep on as is and I guess if any significant developments occur, you will, as usual, keep us up to date.
