New Modem not working

    Broni,MAttman, any one else who can help
    I put driver CD in this XP 'puter ..i get many choices
    1 PlayMedia files using RealPlayer
    2 Play usingMSFT Media Player
    3.copy pictures to a folder using MSFT Scanner & Camera Wizard
    4.View a slide show of the images
    5.Print the picturesing Photo Printing Wizard
    6.Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer
    7.Take no action
    ****you tell me,and how to post or send*****

    i went to Karen's page.Maybe i am missing something here
    her page states
    "Aug 17, 2007 5.2.4 Directory Printer Print the names, and other information, of all folders and files on your computer "
    Question :: if i download that, won't it show the files on This XP 'puter, NOT the Win98 'puter which won't go onlie/can't download anything???
    I thought 6 on my last post was the answer, then i could e-mail it to you or you tell me how to post it???

    Directory Printer has an option (tag) "Save To Disk" ( ".txt ") file.
    You'll use it on your XP.
    Install Directory Printer on XP, put CD in, and use Directory Printer to read CD's content.

    Cancel those choices.
    Open Directory Printer instead, click on "Save To File" tab, play with some options there, as what to include in output file, and save it.

    there is a "save to disk" tab.. no save to file. actually this whole Karen's page is very confusing to me

    If you have the correct drivers installed, Windows will change ports automatically, but, it cannot change ports until Windows is rebooted. If you think you have installed the correct drivers, reboot, the check the COM port listing. If the listing is COM 3 or 4, you should be able to connect to the internet.

    If you like, look at the card and post back with the make and model number on the largest processor chip, I/we might be able to trace the chipset that it uses.

    Don't let it get you frustrated. Walk away from it if you think you are. You will be gaining experience. I (and I expect Broni) have been in your same situation.

    go back a few posts..
    After installing Karen's software i inserted disk
    first time little disk by pointer then nothing
    second time monitor turned gray with a few lines across
    third time, back to "Play media files using Real Plkayer and those 7 choices
    MIR
    like i said earlier 'the wife will have to contact seller to get Make and Model "......
    I may look at largest chip in chipset, but later

    As I said, cancel those 7 choices, open Directory Printer, and read content of the disk from THERE...
    ...but after all:

    Open Directory Printer.
    Look at my screenshot here:

    Have all settings marked, as on my screenshot.
    When you are done, click "Save to Disk" button.

    If you have working floppy drives on both machines and a blank formatted floppy disk you can download WinAudit onto your XP PC then copy and paste WinAudit.exe to the floppy. Place the floppy in the 98 PC, open My Computer and double click on the floppy drive to show WinAudit.exe. Double click on it to start the program. When it is finished scanning you will see your PC's info. Scroll down the list at the left to Hardware Devices and click the + sign. You will now see an expanded list. Scroll down to Network adapters and click on it. Copy and paste the information here regarding the modem.

    I TRIED KAREN'S CHECCK MARKS, DOTS EXACTLY AS SHOWN ,IT KEEPS TELLING ME THAT KAREN'S is already installed.ANS DO I WISH TO OVERWRITE IT

    When you opened Directory Printer, set your settings as in my screenshot, WHAT did you click next?
