I'm having problems in IE7 with going back to the previous page when I'm on certain websites. On some sites I can hit the "Back Button" and the response is normal--other times on different site when I click the back button it shows that it is trying to go back but it doesn't happen unless I click it real fast a couple of times.

I am running XP Pro, Commodo FW, NOD32 AV, Sunbelt Counterspy Antispyware, AdAware & Spyware Blaster--would any of these programs be a cause of the slow response and if so why just on certain sites.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Go to one of the problem sites. Then, instead of using the back button, click on the tiny arrowhead just to the right of the buttons. Then, in the list that opens, click on the site you want to go back to.

If it goes back without any lag, the problem is with the web site. Why some web site developers like to "trap" you on their site is beyond me since it generally angers people enough they won't return.

Miz, tried your suggestion and it DID go right back--must be as you said trouble with the site holding me there. Makes me mad because that is a good racing site and I look at it almost everyday.

    Thank you

You could always contact whoever runs the site and complain. It may do some good and, if not, at least they'll have heard they've irritated at least one repeat customer. You could point out that it's generally accepted by people who keep track of that sort of thing that for every one person who complains, it can be assumed there are at least 100 others who don't like it either but just gripe to themselves. ;)

You can also use the key combination Alt-← to go back. I don't know how this would work with 'trapped' web pages though.

Try your suggestion on the main problem site and it does the same thing as clicking the "back" button--gives the indication that's it starting to go back than nothing happens. Thanks anyway.

Some site block the back button to keep you on their site longer...

So, I'm guessing your overall issue is with the site(s) in question and there's nothing on your end you can do...
