Deleting partitions removes the data on the drive...

Use the Backup/Image option with destination to external drive and your good to go.
You should be using the latest version for Acronis True Image Home 9.0, build #3854.

The terminolgy is Image - not clone which is something else. Dennis asked you:
    To which you answered:

    To answer your questions.
    Yes.
You don't format your hard drive - Acronis will handle the process.

No formatting needed, you just delete as any other file. Formating would erase any other info on the drive.

Myself and other posters are concerned in which process you chose verse to which process you need.
We must begin with an agreement of the words we say to describe what you want to accomplish.
First, let's start with what you want to do.

    A) Do you want to create a special type of backup file(s) which contain all of the information on your boot drive. This is normally on your C drive.

    B) Do you want / need to REMOVE your current drive from your computer and replace with a different drive??

PLEASE CHOOSE process A or B.
If process B, please give a brief explanation why?

Should be no problem. A Image file is just another file.

Could you please answer the following question.
When you created this Image file and stored it on external drive, did Acronis ask you to Re-boot the computer when the process ended??
The answer I need is YES -or- NO.
    Thanks
