I use Outlook 2003. I have two accounts thru 2 different servers using the standard ports. I recently tried to add a third account thru a different server and am able to receive but not send messages. I've tried many settings and have also disabled antiviurs and firewall and still not able to send.
    I get the error:
"send test e-mail message: the specified server was found, but there was no response from teh server. please verify that the port and SSL information is correct. To access these setting close this dialog, then click More Settigns "and click on the Advanced tab. "

I can access the said server thru Outlook Express so the infrastructure on my machine is okay. it appears to be something in Outlook.

"a third account thru a different server "

When you say server, do you mean ISP?
If so, most ISP's will let you receive mail but NOT send mail to a different ISP.

The work around is to use the SMPT info for the ISP where the computer is located.

The third server is not an ISP for me. I use Road Runner as my ISP, I go thru a bluehost server for my website, and the third is for www.militaryappreciationday.org an organzation for which I volunteer and do fundraising. Mail goes to and from my ISP and the bluehost server w/out issue. thanks for your response.

I figured a way to get the mail to work. I am using the smtp server name for my ISP and showing the reply email for the web site that has the mail server. it worked!
