Ever since the last Firefox upgrade ... 20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7 ... I've been having problems with some websites not accepting my passwords.

Firefox is set to accept cookies and I've tried manually adding allowed sites I'm having problems with to my Exceptions list.

I've eliminated my Firewall and anti-virus programs.

I going to delete Firefox and reload it and I'd like to save my profile.
I've currently got my bookmarks saved but I'm not sure how to save my cookies ... and whatever else is contained in my profile.

Is that the right term for it ... profile ?

    thanks

    Sir Gerald,

The problem is in your Profile, and I don't think uninstalling Firefox will have any effect on your password problem.

If it is only a few Websites, then delete the password for those sites here:
    Tools | Options | Security
Scroll down to: Passwords | Show Passwords Tab

Log in again at the sites, and see if this works.

Profile is definitely the correct term, and the Profiles folder is located here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

I backup the entire Firefox folder on a daily basis, due to continuous change to Bookmarks, etc.

Create a Backup folder on your root directory and then copy and paste the entire Profiles folder to the backup folder.

    Hi Ramona,

I think the problem was that on a previous version of Firefox there was an option to refuse to accept cookies that had been previously deleted.
Which I had checked at one time.
It's no longer included as an option in the latest version.

I ended up having to rename my profile folder, then remove and re-install Firefox.
    Now everything's working okay.

I am glad that things worked. however, as Ramona had said, uninstalling/Reinstalling the program would have no effect on the passwords, cookies, bookmarks, which are found in the profile.
In theiory, it should be possible to reject certain cookies from you Option|Security| Show passwords, exceptions button. But, how does one enter any URL?
