    CMOS battery

I suspect that I, too, need to replace my CMOS battery, since the Bios won't hold the time.:( My questions are: 1) what else might be affected if I choose not to do this (the computer is close to 5 years old, so I am reluctant) and 2) would the shareware programs that synchronize your time to the internet work to set the time automatically?
