    I discovered the other day that I don't seem to be able to download. Operating system is 2000 professional, browser is IE 5.0. There is no downlaod progress bar displayed, just what looks to me to be a quicktime logo. After a reasonable time the browser says done (at the bottom of the window, where it ususually says things like, "website found...waiting for ", etc. After it says done I cannot find the "ownloaded" file on my computer. I need to upgrade my IR version so this has become a real problem. Help, anyone? Thanks.

    Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows, versions 5.5 SP2 and 6.0 no longer support Netscape-style plug-ins, such as the plug-in installed as part of QuickTime 5.0.2 and earlier versions. Consequently, Windows customers using these versions of Explorer may be unable to view QuickTime content in the browser. Mac users and Netscape users are unaffected,

    To restore compatibility, Apple has provided an ActiveX control. Please visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/qtcheck/ where you will be prompted to download and install this control if you do not already have it.

    Thanks. I went to that link, clicked on the install link, and in a few seconds got a message that quicktime had been installed. However, I still get the same thing when I attempt a download.... the quicktime logo comes up, no progress indicator, and when it says "Done" in lower corner of IE, I get a broken film strip image.

    If this is happening with exe files, it is a bug in Quicktime.
    Run--> regedit
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe
    Delete the key.
