Alright, I got a great headset a little while ago, and I just have one question:

How do I get sound to go through the headset, not my speakers?

It's plugged into my Soundblaster Live! Audigy card, and the mic works fine, but even though both things are plugged in, the sound still comes through my speakers.

How can I fix this, whether through hardware or software?

    Thanks in advance,

    Brad :)

With my speakers came a little controller, and I can plug in my headphones there, then I push "mute" button on same controller. This mutes speakers, but not headphones.

I have an input jack for headphones on one of my speakers (the master speaker with the volume controls and such), but there is no plug in for the mic, and i'm not even sure whether the headphones work in that jack.

Look at your taskbar. You will have either speaker, or your audio card icon there (I have both). Right click on it, and click Properties. I'm pretty sure, you'll have an option there to mute your speakers, maybe even some option to mute speakers, while headphones are plugged in. Just look around there.

Yeah, but muting the speakers will just mute the sound entirely. I use the Windows Sound Control on XP for my audio adjustments.

FYI, I have to keep Line In muted so that I don't hear my own voice through MY speakers.

Tell me exactly what I need to do to make things work right >.>

I just did some search, and it seems, that with most cards, speakers should get muted, while headphones are in.
Maybe you need a new driver?
What is your card full model name?

You might have drivers installed for the Audigy card, but not the software that goes with it. If you installed Windows without running the Creative drivers/software CD, Windows will install the (basic) drivers it has for that audio chipset (probably listed as a Soundblaster in Device Manager).

I think you need to run the Creative drivers/software CD. Once it is installed, you should find a Creative icon in the notification tray...there...you should be able to make settings for a headset system.

Sorry, I don't have any Creative soundcards available, so I cannot check.

I think you have the drivers installed, but not the software (also known as the "Audio Control Panel ").

You are right, I don't usually bother with the Creative sound manager (I honestly find Windows built in software easier to use) but i'll put it on once more and see what I can do :)

    Thanks for the help :D
