    Hello:
I have a Win98SE laptop that my Father in law gave me.
It has Adobe Photo Deluxe & Photo Elements which i do not use. I could delete them ,but i feel they may be useful some day.Is there a way to Disable/turn them off; then turn back on when wanted??
I called Adobe Tech Support, but these programs are old and not supported, however the Guy said changing them has to do with "File Association Elements" but could/would not explain otherwise. He was willing to chat about Apple VS Msft, etc. and was friendly but not allowed to tell me more.
Who can explian how to disable/turn them off Please??
I know how to Delete, but don't want to; but if anyone sends a picture with an e-mail ,Photoshop Elements opens it,I really do not want to change the picture so i don't want this program to open it by default.
I also have a picture i want to use as wallpaper, but can NOT because Photoshop Elements takes over.
    Awaiting help

    Reasonably straightforward ....

Window Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File types .....

scroll down to jpeg, highlight it and the text below the window will read Opens with ...... Hit the Change button and select the program you wish jpegs to open in and OK out. Repeat for jpg files and any other that open by default in the two programs mentioned.

I repeat - Please keep all responses on the Board - we do not deal on a one to one basis by email or PM.
looks like you are in Outlook Express, not Windows Explorer.

I have not seen a Windows 98 screen for some time so am no longer familiar with every nuance of the OS .....

Did you read the article I posted? .... scroll down to Creating Your Own File Associations -
    .http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/technet/images/archive/win95/maintain/assoc_g_big.gif

Scroll down to jpeg and click on Edit.

If you really do not see this I will move your thread to the Win 98 forum.
