I presently run a couple scuzzie HD's with W2k as the OS.

I want to install a IDE hd and install a version of Linux (Suse 7) and wondered how this scenario would work out??

    Thx

WELL, i tired it anyway and it didn't work. It installed but would never boot-up so i'm back to the old way.

I'm surprised no one has ever tried that.... "O" well.

    others have gone before thee

There are a couple of ways to do what you tried! One is to install your linux on the ide drive have the bios set to boot first device=HD0 second device=scsi...........tada

    method 2

A non bios switching solution (yes I & others do this too) is to have a third party utility such as "Sysytem Commander" or "PowerQuest BootMagic ".

I would install the IDE hard drive, then pqmagic as then PQ can find it easily. What ver: PQM ya got? I have 6 & 7. These are the best ver: for what we are trying to do.
