    Hi folks,

    WinXP
    IE6

    IE6 can't browse Internet after installing "Proxy Changer ".

    IE Proxy Changer - settings

    Current Proxy Server
    127.0.0.1:8080

    Default Proxy Server [address : port]
    127.0.0.1:8080

    Alternate Proxy Server [address : port]
    192.168.1.1:4126

    Re-start IE. On address bar type;
    http://www.yahoo.com
    google.com
    etc.
    Code:
    The page cannot be displayed

    A warning popup
    Code:
    Internet Exploer could not open this search page

    Please advise where shall I check? TIA

    Edit:

    found following trick

    Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings
    disable;
    Use a proxy server for your LAN (These setting s will not be applied to dial-up or VPN connections)

    Then IE works again on Internet browsing.

    But how to hide the IP address?

    Hi WinCrazy,

    On Internet browsing.

    I get "SwitchProxy" installed on Firefox. It works perfectly hiding the IP on Internet surfing. But I can't get it installed on IE6. It needs IE7. Where can I download a free anonymous proxy for IE6? TIA

    For your own security you should be using IE7 anyway - IE 8 is 'on the way' :)

    Hi PeteC,

    Do I need to uninstall IE6 first. Or just install IE7 to overwrite IE6. Thanks

    Hi folks,

    Actually I can do it on IE6 as follow;

    Tools -> Internet Options -> Connection -> Settings

    [check] Use a proxy server for this connection (These setting will not apply to other connections)

    -> Advanced

    Code:
    	Proxy address to use	port
    HTTP	127.0.0.1		80
    Secure	127.0.0.1		80
    FTP	127.0.0.1		80
    Gopher	127.0.0.1		80
    Socks	24.8.100.35		3128

    (Remark:-
    24.8.100.35 : 3128
    is socks 4 proxy address)

    Then OK

    restart IE.
    visit:

    http://proxyblind.org

    My IP address is still displayed there NOT 24.8.100.35

    I can't understand.

    No - you cannot uninstall IE 6 anyway. Just install IE 7 - it will backup up your copy of IE 6 and if you find that IE 7 is not to your liking there will be an entry in Add/Remove Programs for Windows Internet Explorer 7. Removing 7 rolls you back to 6.
