    Hi All

Could anyone please tell me if there is any conflicting issues with vista causing my DSL connections to drop out.

About 4 months ago I joined with a provider to their DSL service. The first month was grand :). After that i get constant drop outs  .

Does DSL have a time out rule?? Is this something controlled by my provider??

After numerous phone calls (should just bang my head against a wall) trying every solution that my provider suggested, they came to the conclusion that it is not their fault and it must be a program in the computer itself that is making it drop out.

    Can anyone help??? Pllleeeeesssseeee!!!!!!

There should be no time outs with DSL, I frequently have mine up for weeks at a time. It is unlikely to be a problem with Vista either. A common cause of the problem is if you have a noisy phone line - if your modem/router can display the line stats, look for "SN Margin" (Signal to Noise Margin), it wants to be above 6dB ideally, below that it can cause loss of synch..

Hello GB1974 and welcome to the Board :)

If you can't measure the S/N ratio, use your ear.

Dial 1 - there should be silence on the line, see if you can hear static. This works in the states.
