Hello, would you tell me windows xp each filename only support ? [64] chars?

    I remember in Win31+DOS, only "8+3" = [11] chars (each file name),

but Windows XP that answer is...? 64 chars correct?

And How to calc that CHARS ? some non-english, example:chinese/korea/japan fonts? maybe used dobble-code/uni-code/ only max: 64/2 = 32 chars (in chinese/korea/japan)?

And do you know if write to CD, that 64chars filename can success write to CD ?

because CD filename structures is still only 32 chars ? right ?

    Thanks!

    Thanks, But that documents said
    (A) characters in the range of zero (0) through 31
    (B) A name can contain characters in the extended character set (128–255)
    (C) The Unicode versions of several functions permit a maximum path length of approximately 32,000 characters composed of components up to 255 characters in length

I do not understand wht mean ?

    Is example:
    C:\FOLDER_UPTO_255chars_path0\FOLDER_UPTO_255chars_path1\FOLDER_UPTO_255chars_upto255path\filename_upto_255chars ?

    Math: (255*255)_PATH + 255_filename = 65280 chars (Total PATH/filename)?

    Correct ?
