Not sure if this should be posted here or in the IE forum. Here's my problem. On my newest PC, with 1GB or RAM, I recently have having the situation where I have several IE windows (and a few other miscellaneous windows), and I try to do a "Open in New Tab" on a link, and nothing happens. (I can open a new tab if I close another IE window) Sometimes, if I put the arrow over a link, and try to click on it, nothing happens.

Oddly, on another PC I have, with less RAM, I seem to be able to have more IE windows up.

Is there some XP limit (or IE limit) on the number of windows you can have open? If so, how can I see what that limit is? Is it something the user can change?

    Thanks.

Probably related to how much 'information' is in the open tabs... i.e. how many resources are being used.

No, it is not a user setting.

If I remember correctly, I could open around 35-40 tabs on my Vista machine before new tabs would no longer open.

Thanks Arie and broni for you replies. System resources, eh. What "resources" would those be? RAM? and...?

    Thanks again.

It would be mostly your processor, and RAM specifications. How Microsoft calculates those numbers in connection to a quantity of open tabs, I don't know, and I couldn't find any answer to that question.
