This is this person friends using his account to report a problem I'm having. I'm having issues with this file called msmdev.dll . I've had a message poping from avg spyware scanner that says it detects a malware file called msmdev.dll and once I told it to clean it, it made me restart my computer. I did so but i keep getting the same message regardless of me cleaning it and restarting the computer. It started today after I was deleteing window files and program files on my other hard drive because it had a Operating system that i didn't need but i couldn't boot up that operating system for some reason to uninstall windows, thats the reason i deleted files straight from the C: hard drive. the reason why I wanna delete it is because i have no use for 2 operating systems and i already have one on my main hard drive. Why this malware infection warning kept apearing I don't know because system files from another hard drive shouldn't interfere with my main operating system even if i delete the secondary operating system's system files. The file is located on my F drives windows folder, the directory is F:\WINDOWS.

AVG is going to actively monitor anything you access on your computer, whether it's on your C: drive, F: drive or any other. Best thing for you to do, if you want to clear the contents of the F: drive, is to go through Disk Management and format it. Right click My Computer and select Manage. Select Disk Management from the Storage section. Right click the F: drive in the upper pane, right side and select format. I recommend using the NTFS file system.

FORMAT WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON THE DRIVE

It sounds as though the operating system you were booting up in was the F: drive, not the C: drive. When you start the computer, do you have a choice of which operating system to start? Have you tried both?

It may be that the BIOS is looking for the wrong drive too. Was the F: drive operating system the first choice, the one that would boot if you didn't select one?
