Right click looksee.bat and select Edit. Delete everything in it. Copy the contents of the quote box below and paste it into looksee, then close and save changes.

Double click looksee.bat to run it. When it completes, see if the _OTMoveIt folder is gone. If it's still there, run it again in safe mode and let me know the results.

The folder is gone :), woo! Finally.
There are only two OTMoveit things that exist now and I was able to delete them and are both now in the recycle bin.

Whew ..... the power of the command line is awesome. :)

Empty the recycle bin now, then clean out those restore points.

Ok have done so :) Now I'll update Windows.
Later on I need to ask a question about running the windows xp cd and also a couple other things, shall I do that in the Windows XP forum?

Is that all that needs to be done concerning these specifics? Or are there other things that need sorting out? it's feels like so long ago...I can't remember my OP. :-D

I think that's everything concerning cleanup, and I think the Windows Update problem as well. :)

You can ask right here if you like. We can always move it over to the appropriate forum if needed.

OK. Thanks for all your help noahdfear. You're more helpful than the computer tech guy who lives 16 miles away, for certain.

When I put the Windows XP cd in the computer, how do I run it? Nothing automatically appears on the screen.
After installing back up from the cd, which places contain my emails and music, it would be C:/ ? How do I choose which places to back up?

For about a year, the computer screen would freeze and red and green vertical lines would appear, occasionally but not always a screen would appear saying basically this

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent further damage to your computer.

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this STOP error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
    .

If problems continue, disable or remove and newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then the select Safe Mode

I've been searching around and apparently, it could either be a problem with drivers, or RAM..or video cards?
    I'm not too sure.

This "Driver_IRQL error" may not be applicable to me, I copied and pasted from another post because that was the nearly exact gist of what my screen said, my screen goes off far too quickly for me to read or write it down.

Basically with back up I know how to install it and get it working, it's just when I put in the Windows XP cd to get things going, the cd doesn't run, how do I manually run the cd?

Also the screen gets distorted like I described when I've had the computer on for a while, when it's hot.

    Yeah I'm using Outlook Express.

Open My Computer and right click the cd drive containing the XP cd, then choose Explore.

Sounds like there may be a heat buildup problem. Do you have access to compressed air to clean out the inside of the case?

Hmhm I did that and there is no specific progam for Windows XP meaning I can't find it. Any other way of getting it going?

And no I don't have access to compressed air...at least I don't think I have...

What is the drive letter for your cd drive?

Maybe pick up a can or 2? Otherwise, an artists brush will clean most of it well enough.

I've installed backup, how do I decide where to backup, I've looked on microsoft website and decided to backup to the C drive which was a mistake because it was running low on disk space so I cancelled backing up to there, where else can I backup to on this computer?

Glad you got it installed. You would need to add another hard drive, whether it was internal or external, use a cd(s), or a usb flash drive with enough capacity for what you want to backup.

What size is your hard drive? Right click Local Disk C: and select properties. You will see Used space, Free space and Capacity.
