I searched for this exact question, I've been a MAC guy for awhile (layout, quark, etc... ) so excuse my windows ignorance. I bought XP Home 2-3 years ago, installed it on a computer I built for my brother. (Sempron, etc...basic setup). His house was broken into and the computer (among other things) was stolen. Can I take the XP disk and key I have and put it on a newly built computer again?

I know it's a single user copy, etc... but is there a way around this? Thanks for the help.

Microsoft licensing says you can only install their software once unless otherwise noted. They have made some provisions, such as moving computers, you can uninstall the software from one and install it on another.
You may want to check with them, but as long as you have a single XP license, and its installed on only 1 computer you own, you should be fine installing it.
