I was trying to change my desktop and somehow managed to completely change the appearance of all web site pages. Even your page is completely changed.
It is hard to explain...but pages have lines missing where they were before and new lines where there were not any before. The headings are blue and larger where they were black and smaller before. It makes them difficult to read. They are not the way the site always displayed them.
How can I get them back to the way they are supposed to look...the way the website always displayed them??
I know this is confusing, but I have spent hours, to the point where I am completely confused and don't remember what I changed as I keep trying...I want to get them back to look like the website
    intended them to look.
Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks,
    Dixie

Check - Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Accessibility - all boxes should be unchecked.

Consider System Restore to a point before you made changes.

I *never use IE but I checked and all the boxes were unchecked already.

The changes that I made were made from the desktop properties and everything is now all fouled up.Even Windows Media player does not display the way it used to.
I am not as computer literate as many of you are and I am completely confused.

I am afraid of Restore because I used it once in WinME and could not boot my computer afterwards because it wouldn't initialize...will the same thing happen in XP? If it does, I will have no way to get back here and what should I do if that happens?

Is it only in Firefox (?) that the pages are displayed strangely? - what about the remainder of Windows?

BTW - System Restore is not infallible, but it has always worked for me, but we'll try and work this through without reverting to that.

Can you post a screen grab? Use Photobucket or similar and post the URL here.

    PS

The changes that I fouled up were all made from the Desktop Properties and not from any browser.

Ok - I can deal with Display Properties and if we get nowhere I will move this thread to the Netscape/Mozilla forum which includes Seamonkey.

    Standard display settings .....

Right click on a blank area of the desktop > Properties .....

Themes tab - select Windows XP from the dropdown list

Desktop tab - select Bliss, position Stretch

    Appearance tab ....

Windows & buttons - Windows XP style

    Colour scheme - Default (blue)

    Font size - normal

Effects - in order of the check boxes ....

Unchecked, unchecked, unchecked, checked, unchecked, checked.

    Settings tab ....

Display - Screen resolution 1024 x 768 - depends on your monitor size

    Colour - Highest (32 bit)

Advanced - General tab - DPI setting - Normal size (96)

I did what you suggested...I hate the XP style and I always used classic...also the font is way to small and faint. I don't like the Bliss desktop at all. The toolbar is terrible and not as easy to read as the classic...also the web pages are still not correct...the logos don't display and the whole site is different...
Sorry, but the XP style is awful!! Thanks for helping but everything is just a mess.
I would try Restore but I am so afraid that the computer would get more fouled up and not boot.

I use Classic too - don't like the candy floss of XP luna :)

OK revert back to Classic view - from my notes .....
I am moving this thread to the Mozilla/Netscape forum for comment there. I honestly have no idea what you managed to do.

BTW you never responded to my question .... Is it only in Seamonkey that the pages are displayed strangely? - what about the remainder of Windows?

They are different in the remainder of Windows also...they don't display the same way they used to...things seem to be missing or changed in style.

    Now you tell me :)

OK - moved your thread back to XP forum.

Have you set up Classic mode again? I have a feeling that your video (graphics) drivers are messed up and would recommend a re-install of those.

Yes, I went back to classic.
I don't know anything about any drivers and have no idea how to reinstall them...I think I am going to have to take a chance on Restore but I am very afraid to try it and put the whole computer out of commission....

As you have no faith in System Restore best to hold back on that option for the time being.

Right click My Computer icon > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager -expand Display Adaptors by clicking on the + sign - what is the entry there?(that is your graphics card).

    _Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
    This listed twice

(Right clicking the My Computer Icon does not list any such thing as hardware under properties,,,I had to scout around looking everywhere for the device manager as it seems to be hidden somewhere...)
Now I am so confused that I don't remember where I found it...LOL...but really NOT funny.

You should have seen the dialogue box shown below. Control Panel > System brings up the same box.

Your computer has an onboard graphics chip rather than a plug in card - first suggestion ....

Go back into Device Manager to Display Adaptor, expand by right clicking on the + sign and then right click on Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL .... and select Uninstall.

Reboot and Windows will reload thedrivers.

We are several hours ahead of you in the UK and I shal lbe logging off soon - out tomorrow and will catch up late tomorrow afternoon our time. In the meantime you may get advice from another member.
