Shut Down Problems

I know there have been a lot of threads about this topic but I have been through some and still cannot find the answer to my problem.

When I shut down or restart it will exit windows fine and then it goes to a blank screen with a curser flashing up in the top left. I want it to exit windows then power off.

I have a duel processor machine so APM will NOT work on my machine.

Any other suggestions would be grateful

What SP are you running?

Reason I ask - we have a room full of dual and quad CPU 2K machines that all behave properly. All running SP2 or SP3.

Might not be your problem (and all these systems are running advanced server so not an identical OS probably) but again, it certainly could be.

And based on the long list of post-SP2 hot fixes out there, SP3 seems like a good idea.

 

I was unaware that SP3 was out, I am downloading it as we speak to see if that fixes the problem I have a feeling that it will not.

I am running SP2 at the moment on W2K pro

I will post back if the SP3 sorts out the problem.

 

Installing SP3 did not help, any one got any ideas.

 

Sorry - if the SP update didn't work the only other thing I can suggest is tech support from the mfgr.
