    Hello~All,
AFter installing the current versions of both programs in Admin. mode, now - when I start work in limited user mode the program(s) want to load again???
Box pops up some files could NOT be installed, I click ok and the program runs OK and in help/about both are running current versions?
If I click on update while in limited user mode, it shows version 2004 in FF, as the update?? MOST confused!!
Both programs run flawlessly in admin. mode and are 2.0.0.6. and show the same versions in limited mode. They run ok but seem to what to install again?
Am I "waiting" for problems here? Or do I just ignore the hassle?
Thanks Ramona and All, \system: xp sp2

My wife and I use the Adm. mode. So no problem.
I am guessing the limited use mode has no or limited access to the profile.
what are folders like in the limited mode? But, unfortunately, I have no experience with the limited use. I would not use it, unless coerced.

    John,

Here are some suggestions for your problem:
Fixed: Software Update Failed for Limited User

Also: I'm a Limited user, and my update Failed!
As a single user on my PC, I'm not literate about the limited user mode either...

Let us know if this helps...

    GREAT!!! success.

    Hi-Ramona and All,
That did the trick!!! That's a great trick to know about, the link you provided.
I was "quite" leery about running cmd lines, but - it worked....Apparently, my FF was hung up on version 2.4, it loaded OK then I selected update again and 2.06 ran and installed fine!!
I assume OR never assume anything!!!! It should work on TB also? I'm very, very dubious about "messing" around with TB, as I really can't afford to mess up my email!!!
I won't do TB unless you suggest it "might" work?????
As always ~ Ramona to the rescue....What would we do out here without you??? I DO shudder the thought...LOL...

    John,

Woohoo! There are some talented folks over on MozillaZine, and they have more tricks up their sleeves than Houdini.

Did you use the Everyone:f or Everyone:c command?

    cacls c:\ "Program Files "\ "Mozilla Firefox" /t /e /g Everyone:?

Whether or not it would work with Thunderbird would have to be tested, but I did ask, and you can check to see if I am answered:

    ff - tb

    Hi-Ramona,
Glad this trick worked....Now hopefully, they'll come up with one for TB????
I used the everyone:c - it is less Open than the :f switch..
I wonder if they'll reply to me if I ask the question??
    Thanks - Ramona
