    In Opera 9.23, I would like the behavior when closing a tab to mimic Firefox's. I.e., it should go to the next tab over to the right if there is one, and if not, go to the next tab to the left.

    The current behavior is to close a tab, then go the the most recently viewed tab.

    Go to Tools>Preferences (or hit CTRL+F12).

    Go to the Advanced Tab.

    On the side click on the Tab option (it should be the top one).

    In the first drop-down box, change the option from Cycle in recently used order to Cycle in tab order.

    @Ledraisel

    That setting changes a different behavior. It sets the order that tabs are displayed when you Ctrl-Tab through the tabs. It does not set the order that tabs are displayed when you are closing them.

    As far as I know, there is no way to configure Opera so that tabs are displayed in a certain order when closing them. I've always been hoping for this feature, but it's never been implemented.
