I have developed a macro in Excel which copies and pastes a graph from my "original file" into a new file to be posted to the web (web file). It then saves my web file, saves it as a webpage and then exits. My macro (located in my original file) is now acting up and I have no idea how to fix it! When I run my macro, it tells me that I need to debug it. I step into the Macro Builder and the only difference (as far as I can tell) is that the macro is not picking up the correct graph (or "chart ") numbers. Ex: ActiveSheet.ChartObjects ( "Chart 5 ").Activate - if I open the web file and right click on the graph, go to "apply macro ", the chart number will be 6. I can manually put that number into the macro in the Macro Builder and the macro will work, however it does not fix the problem because next time the chart number is 6 but it should be 7.

Also, if I delete this macro and start over from scratch, when I save as a webpage, Excel closes down on me informing me of an error. My macro doesn't get saved and I lose the macro. This occurs 4 times out of 5. Just the luck of the draw, I guess.

Can anyone please help me?? :(

    Hi Gin
Welcome to the boards! I've little experience running Macros. Perhaps our dearest Billy has some suggestions? Have you tried to debug?

    Hi again Gin.......
I hope you don't mind me pasting your note here. If we keep it on the board, you've got a much wider base of people that can hop on andd help, plus others that have experienced this problem can learn.

You did take a gander through the thread I posted? I'll take another look around and see if I can find something to help. In the meanwhile..this will pop you back to the top where hopefully someone else can read it and reply.

    Had a thought.
There's a member from a different board that I belong to, that runs an office site. You might want to give it a go? Word Expert or this forum?

Sorry, Daizy! Not familiar with this "reply" stuff yet!

Yes, I have tried to debug, unfortunately, it does nothing for me. Every time I think I have fixed the problem (which is just the chart #'s), save and close, the problem just reoccurs the next time I go in and play the macro. I have copied a macro which does work into one file that contains a macro that doesn't work (with some minor differences, of course). That worked for one, however the others are being quite disagreeable and will not work for me.

Unfortunately I am at a stand still and do not know where to go from here. Thanks for the link...I will try it and read up on it.

If you have any more suggestions/ideas please let me know. All is welcome!!!:)

Gin? I'm not sure if you saw the two additional links I posted?

    Hey, Daizy!
I tried the first link (Billy) you posted, but that was not quite what I needed...it still is beneficial to me, just not with the problem I am currently experiencing. I will try the other two links you posted today.

Debugging my macro did not work...deleting the macro and making a new one did not work...the only option I had left was to recreate the file. So, that's what I've done. Then I made a whole new macro for it. Now it works. Beats me why...? I looked at the macro and it is no different then the macro that did not work. If there was a way to edit it, it would've been a lot less work however, I just don't see there being any other way...Guess there must have been something wrong with the file? That still doesn't make any sense as it worked before...? Oh, well. "Job security" right?! :p

Thanks for taking your time and looking into this for me. :)
