Hi, I've had problems with my pc for aprox 1 month. I've tried many software options for fixing my errors. I still feel that there may be some driver or something that I'm not realizing, or some check I didn't run.

    System Stats:
    AMD 64 X2 4200+
    1 gig (2x 512) ocz gold
    abit kn8 sli motherboard (nforce4)
    evga nvidia 7800gt
    2x 37gb raptors in raid 0
    asus dvdrw drive
    justpc 550w power supply
netgear wpn311 wireless network card *recent update*
    logitech usb mouse/keyboard/gamepad

    nothing overclocked.

I get frequent blue screens, most often when browsing websites with ie7. I'm usually running a game in the background. System crashes most often when downloading either information for the game or new data into ie7. I recently changed my network card thinking this was the faulty piece of hardware causing the problem, but I am still receiving errors.

    What I have done:
I've reinstalled most all drivers possible, I've made sure all drivers and bios are up to date and then rolled back a few (game suggests using nvidia 91.47 driver to be most stable in game)

I ran memtest for ~10hrs with 0 errors.

I was getting many error codes which I thought were related to my network card, so I just replaced it today. I was using a belkin pre-n desktop card, which is a pcmcia adapter for a desktop + a laptop card and it had always acted oddly. I also unplugged the usb adapter for the front pannel to possibly clear up irq errors. I have received 4 bluescreens since I installed the new network card

When I first built this PC I had many issues due to drivers not liking the dual core and that caused many applications to crash, since then there have been many driver updates and my computer did not crash for a good 6+ months, now it is very bad (4 times today already, though just 3 days ago it was up for 2 1/2 full days).

So my questions after this big wall of text:
I'm unsure if these errors are due to bad hardware, bad drivers/virus i don't see or irq conflicts, what are your opinions and what would you do next?

I'm going to follow this post with some of the mini-dumps I received today, they weren't identical. Thank you in advance for any input you might be able to give. *If I've posted too much just delete some posts, sry this is first time*

    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: bfb39ac4, The address that the exception occurred at

Arg2: 69696969, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: f422fba8, Trap Frame

Not experienced in reading dump files, self taught 101.

Your first and last dump are both pointing to nvidia drivers ... nv4_disp.dll and nv4_mini.sys

Can't suggest anything but the obvious, try different releases for your card. Take the extra time and uninstall old drivers before each change. I would suggest registry cleaning, but only if you have experience and proper backups/images in place. Check game forums for your most played game(s) for any version suggestions / evga nvidia 7800gt graphics card. Excluding your problem with network card, are your BSOD occurring with games loaded? Also check event manager for any additional clues. Event manager is time logged, so event should correspond to logs.

nyankz - Welcome to the Board :)

I think Dennis has said it all - for the time being :)

I would like to add a general rider .....

Unfortunately these logs require expert knowledge to analyze and there are only 2 members (who occasionally visit WindowsBBS.com) that have the depth of knowledge necessary. Other members can make observations and suggestions as to how you might proceed toward finding the cause ....

    Hi, and thanks.

The blue screens are occurring both with and without games loaded. I just did remove the most recent driver for the card then rebooted and installed 91.47 that was after the 2nd crash and then i crashed 3 times in a row after installing that one.

With my first network card I was getting IRQL errors constantly, I realized that the graphics card and the network card were on same IRQ so I uninstalled drivers/physically moved card locations to get them off the same IRQ and was very depressed when I still received blue screens.

    My current IRQ:

    IRQ 0 System timer OK
IRQ 6 Standard floppy disk controller OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK
IRQ 9 AMD ACPI-Compliant System OK
IRQ 10 NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management OK
IRQ 13 Numeric data processor OK
IRQ 16 WPN311 RangeMax(TM) Wireless PCI Adapter OK
IRQ 18 NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT OK
IRQ 20 Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller OK
IRQ 21 NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA RAID Controller OK
IRQ 22 Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller OK
IRQ 22 Realtek AC'97 Audio OK

so i only have 1 conflict and both of them are on board, and i can't really move either of those off without disabling sound or usb. if there's other ways to do that let me know, i'm at a loss there.

I understand not many can fully understand these logs, if i'm lucky someone might realize the problem or relate to a similar problem they had with this hardware. any input is welcome, i'm close to:
    1) backing up files and full formatting, disabling raid, reformatting again, re-configuring raid and re-installing windows. (my last install was one of those repair installs where it only removes windows files and a friend mentioned re-creating the raid)

    2) getting new power supply/motherboard (i have an additional issue with the motherboard, even with on board lan enabled the device will not show up in network places but for a while i was still able to use it to connect to the internet, it was odd and some people have posted that issue with the motherboard)

    3) beating my pc with a large metal object (this would be most fun but least productive and most costly)

Just post the logs 'as is' on the basis they are either minidumps or kernel dumps - as you have already posted.

does anyone have suggestions on what i might do to isolate this problem?

I plan on backing up files and doing a full re-install soon regardless. I am seeing KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810093/en-us

I believe after my last re-install that my raid might be causing file problems with the swap file and i'm going to reconfigure it and do a full format.

I also see this article was posted recently:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829120/en-us

I have seen some errors caused by tcpip.sys and this hotfix may do the trick. I'm going to try this and then reformat unless there are other suggestions.

also to add: my system temp is fine, board temp is ~30 idle 37 full load, processor is below 45.

What tests might I run to isolate which driver/hardware is causing these problems? If i do my full re-install and I continue to get these screens I'm going to need to replace some hardware.

Have you had a chance to browse through Event Manager?
    ------------------
If you have a spare PS, just to rule out voltage irregularities.
    ------------------
Can you borrow a suitable graphics card, again to rule out unknown hardware conflicts and / or impending failure.
    ------------------
Just for my curiosity ... What features / advantages does the Raid configuration provide? All newer boards have the capacity, but just a trickle consider using it.

at work now, i'll have to check the event manager when I get home, i had vnc up to try some remote tests and log searches like that but my comp must have crashed because i was connected earlier and the connection reset.

only gfx slots on my comp are pcie, and my other comps use agp gfx cards. the other comps i have also have smaller power supply's.

    for the raid question:
Hard disk is the slowest part of the computer, raid 0 has potential to speed up file access, as well as the 10k rpm raptors i have it on. the reason i had it set up was for speed when loading levels/maps and such in games and it has worked very well. it also helps a ton when installing large applications and OS re-installs. (comp boots to windows in 20ish seconds) the main problem is that if 1 drive goes you're skrewed and i might be seeing some of that now if it isn't the drivers messing things up. I'm getting a lot of "virtual memory page file could be bad" errors, which could mean a disk is corrupting on me. if this is the case i'll just save what i can off them and get a larger raptor.

You have a very nice computer. Would love to have a 10k/Raptor for my system drive.
For general information, is ABIT KN8 SLI (NVIDIA nForce4 SLI) the board your running?

One global observation - your system is "Hardware edgy "
This is not a bad thing, but my concern is problematic in all components/drivers getting along.....

Your running Raid. I can only guess, surmise, not much testing/debugging/compatibility issues/know bugs have surfaced.... primarily due to the fact, very small audience.

I assume your running SATA drives.

Your running WIFI - with a recent update.

    Logitech usb mouse/keyboard/gamepad.
Of all, this one gives me some concerns. Although we have not seen any dump's pointing to USB, they have been know to seek up and bite us in erratic hardware behavior.

As we have already discussed, graphics card. Do not know how mature SLi technology / compatibility is. I understand you are running 1 card, but it's running in a SLi designed MB.

Again nyankz, nice computer. You have selected many of the new schemes for hardware. Not bad, just makes life more interesting ... and at times a bit more challenging. :)

i've actually had this since 01/06 it's getting a bit outdated already, it didn't run at all for almost 2 months after i built it due to not having proper support for the hardware because it was too new. the biggest hurdle i had when i first built the system is that the graphics drivers crashed when more than 1 core did the processing. I kind of feel that i need to explore this again, and set affinity to only 1 processor for certain applications and see if that stops the crashes. it then ran fine for ~6-8 months before i saw any issues. I've recently gotten the new mouse and keyboard (Logitech G5 mouse and Logitech G11 keyboard) which are both usb and take considerable more power than my last keyboard/mouse but my last setup was wireless and i was getting tired delay of wireless mouse/keyboard while playing some games.

I'm thinking i need to replace the power supply regardless, it is one of those power supply's that comes included in the case and it seems cheaply built with a small fan, and probably not built to be on 24/7 for 18 months. even though it's rated for enough power (pretty sure 550w is enough for my setup) i don't think it's stable. Fans in computer (i'm assuming the power supply fan) makes cyclic noise like it's off balance when starting the computer after it had been powered down a while but then goes back to the normal hum after ~5min.

After a more recent inspection of my comp. the fan in the powersupply is dead. I'll be getting a new one soon. i don't know if this will fix all of the errors but i'm hoping it will take care of most of them.

    re-installed windows, got bluescreen while trying to install. got ******, looked up the error code. it blamed having too many devices when installing or bad memory. i took out all the non-necessary hardware, got another bluescreen, moved memory around (i had 2 512 sticks) and found it blue screend with 1 stick and not the other (but memtest showed no errors last week after running 10 hrs, go figure). so on top of a power supply problem, i had a memory problem. good thing is that 1 of the sticks is working fine, i can operate fine with 512 mem till i get more memory. I'll prob wait a week and then get 2 gigs if my crashes stop for good <.<;
