You may use any sound file (.wav) you like to notify of new mail - search via Google for .wav files ......

    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLG_en___GB227&q=.wav+files

Save file(s) to hard drive - C:\Windows\Media. Then navigate to Control Panel > Sounds > Sounds tab and highlight New Mail Notification and select from the drop down list. If you have saved the new .wav file in the location above it will be in the list.

Can do the same for any sound event in the list.

FWIW - I currently use the mail sound from AOL - not on AOHell - copied from my sister's laptop - the lovely Johanna Lumley :) - previous to that a clip from Star Trek :) . Emptying Recycle Bin is a flushing toilet (John)

My RC-bin sound is somewhat more convincing ;)

(same as above, rename .txt > .wav)
