Using Sony Digital Voice Editor 3, Word 2000 & XP HE SP2.
When typing into Word via using a foot pedal to listen to DVE3 transcription, if Shift key is hit to capitalise a letter while foot has been lifted off foot pedal, & then foot pedal activated, the Shift F10 drop down menu appears & locks screen & keyboard.
If the foot pedal is depressed before the Shift key is hit, no problems.
Is there any way to stop foot pedal behaving as if it's a Shift F10 key stroke in the above circumstances??
    Can Shift F10 be disabled??
    Thank you
    FH

Hi and welcome to the BBS,
I am only going by your description (which seems very good).

Pressing the foot pedal appears to have the same effect as pressing the F10 key (Correct...F10 can start the playback?)

I would expect this is set up by the software for the foot pedal.

You may need to look at the Help information in the foot pedal's software or manual and see if the action can be changed to another key. Looking at the Windows Shortcut Keys list, if you could change it to, say, F9 or F11, it would not have a shortcut key effect.

Check the information for the foot pedal (does it come with the Sony software?) Another place may be FAQs at the supplier's website.

    Hello
Yes, you are correct in assessing that F10 can start the playback.

The DVE3 software Options has a tick box that allows for disabling the foot pedal and using Function keys instead. (Called 'Enabling Transcription Keys')
Default set up for that is F10 to Start the digital 'tape' and F11 to Stop it.
I note now that I can change the F10 to another key stroke, eg, other Fctn keys or Ctrl + P, so I will try that & see what happens.

I also notice that if I make the changes to the Transcribing Key allocation as described above, when I tick the "Enable Foot pedal ", it Greys out the Fwd & Stop key allocations.
Will experiment & see what happens.
Don't have access to foot pedal at the moment.

The ultimate objective is to be able to capitalize in Word 2000 using the Shift key, and be able to pause or depress the foot pedal at the same time [ie, not have the Foot pedal kick it into a Shift F10 drop down menu result.
    Thank you for your suggestions.
    FH
