    If it helps...
A little over a month ago, the customer was fine and happy with all hardware working and seeing each other.
A salesman knocked on the door of his apartment offering a "Free" trial month of a high speed DSL service, which he accepted.
This new service utilized a combination Modem/Router which was installed by a tech, and all was working (presumably)
For reasons I have yet to be able to ascertain, while the customer was in the free trail period, one of our other techs felt it necessary to perfomr a full format and reinstallation of Windows XP Media Center on the Desktop unit.
After the re-installation all was again working fine again.
However, when the free trial period was over, the customer removed the combo modem/router and re-installed the original Cable modem and D-Link Router.
That is when the problems came up with the Desktop.
Again, the problem is tha the Desktop can not see the printer, and consequently can not install the software, and the Desktop can not access the network (error : "MSHOME" is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this netowrk resource.... ")

I have walked the customer through the Network set up wizard = no joy
I have changed the computer name(s) and then back = no joy
I have changed the work group name and then back = no joy

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Well, I didn't like the Teredo Adapter (IPv6) being listed so I had the customer look for Advanced Networking in the Services and it was not there, but Peer to Peer was so I had him disable it.

    No Joy

I had him "release" on both the Desktop and Laptop and shut them down and turned the printer off.
Performed a hard reset on the Router and brought the laptop up first and the printer.
    no problems
Brought the desktop up = no joy.

walked through the network set up wizard again and still no joy.

Being out of suggestions, I had the customer perform a reinstall for the recovery partition.

He is now back to normal and all works fine.

I sure wish I knew what the problem was but at least it's fixed.
